CANTON VETERANS MEMORIAL

The Canton Park District Foundation (CPDF) is an IRS 501 (c)(3) organization founded to promote and help facilitate park improvements, projects, and to eventually reduce the burden on tax payers by funding park projects.

In 2010, the CPDF authorized a committee to be formed to raise funds for the construction and maintenance of a Veterans Memorial. The committee is co-chaired by Bob & Jeanne Ems.

The new Veterans Memorial will be located at Lakeland Park and will sit adjacent to the Ranger Station. Funding for the memorial is by donations and the sale of brick pavers.

Two sizes of bricks are available. A $100 4"x 8" brick is available for veterans. The $500 8"x 8" brick is available for organizations, businesses or others to honor veterans. Other opportunities for donations are available as well and include: benches, flag poles, and monuments.

The Veterans Memorial Committee hopes to break ground in May, 2011 and begin the contruction process. It is hoped that construction can be substantially finished in time for Veterans Day on November 11, 2011.

Forms are available from Committee members or at the Park District office for both the 4 x 8 and 8 x 8 bricks. Download this worksheet for help with lettering and spacing of the 4 x 8 bricks.
